A solution of (E)-[1-(4-bromo-2,5-difluorophenyl)ethylidene]hydrazine in ethylene glycol (3 mL) was heated at 165° C. for 3 hours in a sealed tube. The mixture was cooled to RT and saturated NaHCO3 was added (3 mL) and stirred for 10 minutes. The mixture was filtered and solid was washed with water (5 mL×2) to obtain the desired product brown solid (163 mg, 62%).
