Procedure

To a solution of tert-butyl (3-(3-(3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl)carbamate (1.2 g, 3.01 mmol) in ethyl acetate (30 mL) was added HCl/ethyl acetate (20 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. and the concentrated with the residue used in the next step without further purification.
