Procedure
Suspension of Clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate (50 gms) was stirred in dichloromethane (300 ml) and subsequently basified by adding NaHCO3 solution (10%, 500 ml) in it. The mixture was stirred at 25 to 30° C. for about 10 minutes. The layers were separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane (50 ml.) and washed with water (100 ml.). It was then dried over Na2SO4 and the solvent was distilled off on a water bath at 50 to 55° C. to obtain Clopidogrel free base (39.5 gms).
