A mixture of 1-(2,2-dibromo-vinyl)-3-fluoro-4-methoxybenzene (0.5 g, 0.00161 mol), potassium tertbutoxide (0.36 g, 0.00322 mol) and toluene (6 mL) were heated at 80° C. for 4 h. After completion, the reaction mixture was cooled to RT, diluted with water (15 mL), and extracted with EtOAc (3×50 mL). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduce pressure to obtain product as a yellow oil (0.3 g, 81%).
