To a solution of N-{4-methoxy-3-[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]phenyl}-1-methylpiperidin-4-amine (128 mg, 0.404 mmol) in methanol (2 mL) powdered anhydrous potassium carbonate (56 mg, 0.404 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The solvent was removed under vacuum and the residue was taken up with EtOAc (30 mL). The solution obtained was washed with brine, (3×5 mL), water (5 m), dried over sodium sulfate and the solvent was removed under vacuum. The dark brown oil was purified by flash chromatography (EtOAc/MeOH/33% NH4OH 90/10/0.1) to yield the title compound as a yellow solid (85 mg, 86%).
