Procedure

A mixture of C7 (484 mg, 2.08 mmol), triethylamine (0.87 mL, 6.3 mmol) and dichloromethane (30 mL) was cooled to 0° C. and methanesulfonyl chloride (0.32 mL, 4.2 mmol) was added drop-wise over 15 minutes. After an additional 30 minutes at 0° C., the reaction was quenched with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (50 mL), and the mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (2×50 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution (50 mL), dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide the title compound as a colorless oil. Yield: 640 mg, 2.06 mmol, 99%. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.60 (br dd, J=7.8, 1.2 Hz, 1H), 7.45-7.51 (m, 1H), 7.06 (br dd, J=7.7, 7.6 Hz, 1H), 6.88 (br d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 5.26-5.32 (m, 1H), 5.01-5.06 (m, 1H), 2.95 (s, 3H), 2.53-2.63 (m, 1H), 2.37-2.46 (m, 1H), 2.18-2.30 (m, 2H).
