Procedure

A solution of 6-bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-1′-methyl-2′-(methylthio)spiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (300 mg, 0.67 mmol) and NH4I (194 mg, 1.33 mmol) in NH3/EtOH (5 mL, 1.5 N) was heated at 110° C. in a tube in a microwave reactor for 2-2.5 h. After cooling, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give a residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to afford 2′-amino-6-bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-1′-methylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (35 mg, 12%). 1H-NMR (MeOD): 2.19 (m, 1H), 2.41 (m, 1H), 3.11 (m, 3H), 5.15 (m, 0.5H), 5.38 (m, 0.5H), 6.78 (m, 1H), 6.82 (m, 0.5H), 7.02 (m, 0.5H), 7.23 (m, 1H), 7.31 (m, 3H), 7.44 (m, 1H).
