Procedure
A solution of (2R,4S)-6-bromo-2-phenyl-1′-propyl-2′-(propylthio)spiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (75 mg, 0.16 mmol), and NH4I (46 mg, 0.32 mmol) in NH3/EtOH (4 mL, 1.5 N) was heated at 110° C. in a tube in a microwave reactor for 2-2.5 h. After cooling, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give a residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to afford (2R,4S)-2′-amino-6-bromo-2-phenyl-1′-propylspiro-[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (15 mg, 23%). 1H-NMR (MeOD): 1.00 (m, 3H), 1.45 (m, 2H), 2.23 (m, 1H), 2.48 (m, 1H), 3.75 (m, 2H), 5.85 (m, 1H), 6.90 (m, 1H), 7.14 (m, 1H), 7.40 (m, 6H).
