To a solution of methylhydroxylamine HCl salt (26 mg, 0.307 mmol) in anhydrous MeOH (10 mL) was added NaOMe (25 wt. % in MeOH, 0.07 mL, 0.276 mmol), followed by (Z)—N-(6-bromo-2-phenylchroman-4-ylidene)cyanamide (100 mg, 0.307 mmol). After stirring for 10 minutes, the solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in DCM (20 mL). The mixture was filtered, and the solvent was removed in vacuo to give 6-bromo-2′methyl-2-phenyl-2′H-spiro(chroman-4,5′-(1,2,4)oxadiazol)-3′-amine (100 mg, 87%), which was used in the next step without further purification.
