Into a solution of methyl 1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (10 g, 79.3 mmol) in DMF (80 ml), cuprous oxide (0.567 g, 3.96 mmol), salicylaldoxime (1.08 g, 7.93 mmol), Cs2CO3 (64.4 g, 198.4 mmol) and 1-methyl-4-iodo pyrazole (16.5 g, 79.9 mmol) were added and the mixture was stirred at 110° C. for 48 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with saturated solution of aqueous NaHCO3 and extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was concentrated and purified by flash-chromatography. Yield 2.9 g. 1H-NMR (400 MHz; DMSO-d6): δ 3.83 (s, 3H), 3.88 (s, 3H), 7.90 (s, 1H), 8.29 (d, 2H). LC-MS: [M+H]=207.
