Palladium on carbon 10% (20 mg, 18.8 μmol) was added to a round-bottomed flask containing a solution of 5-(benzyloxy)-N,1-dimethyl-6-oxo-2-(m-tolylmethylsulfonamido)-1,6-dihydro-pyrimidine-4-carboxamide (0.07 g, 153 μmol) in ethyl acetate (5 ml) and MeOH (5 ml). The resulting mixture was degassed by nitrogen, evacuated and purged with hydrogen. The mixture was stirred at room temperature under an atmosphere of hydrogen for one hour, filtered and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue was washed with hexane and DCM, and crystallized from MeOH/Et2O to give the title compound as an off-white solid (0.03 g; 53%). LCMS m/z=367 (MH+).
