Procedure

A mixture of 1-(3-phenyl-[1,2,4]oxadiazol-5-yl)-piperidin-4-one (400 mg), cyclopropylamine (120 μL), sodium triacetoxyborohydride (420 mg), and glacial acetic acid (0.20 mL) in dichloromethane (7 mL) is stirred for two days at room temperature. Dichloromethane is added and the mixture is washed with aqueous K2CO3 solution. The organic phase is dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound. TLC: rf=0.30 (silica gel, CH2Cl2/MeOH 95:5); Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=285 [M+H]+.
