A solution of 5.0 g (20.5 mmol) 2-bromo-1-(4-nitrophenyl)ethanone and 5.0 g (49.5 mmol) acetylguanidine in 70 mL acetonitrile was stirred for 4 hr at 40° C. and for an additional 72 hr at room temperature. The resulting precipitate was suctioned off in a mixture with methanol, refiltered, and dried. The solid (0.7 g) thus obtained was used without further purification.
