Methanesulfonyl chloride (0.88 mL, 11.3 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of (S)-1-(1-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-indazol-6-yl)ethane-1,2-diol (1.68 g, 5.63 mmol), Et3N (2.0 mL, 14.1 mmol) and CH2Cl2 (30 mL) at 0° C. After 1 h diluted with CH2Cl2 (100 mL) and washed with 0.5 M HCl, saturated aqueous NaHCO3, brine, and then dried over MgSO4. After the solvent was removed, purification using Biotage Isolera (silica gel, 50-66% EtOAc in hexane) gave the title compound as a sticky white solid (2.13 g, 83%); 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.05 (s, 1H), 7.78 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.42 (s, 1H), 7.18-7.12 (m, 3H), 6.82 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 5.90-5.87 (m, 1H), 5.59-5.50 (m, 2H), 4.55-4.50 (m, 1H), 4.42-4.38 (m, 1H), 3.76 (s, 3H), 3.04 (s, 3H), 2.77 (s, 3H); MS ESI 455.1 [M+H]+, calcd for [C19H22N2O7S2+H]+ 455.1.
