A mixture of 7-(2,4-dimethoxy-benzyl)-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (15 mg, 0.041 mmol) and phenethylamine (0.020 mL, 0.142 mmol) in EtOH (2 mL) was refluxed for 16 h. After cooling the mixture to r.t., AcOH (0.1 mL) and water (2 mL) were added. The resulting precipitate was isolated by filtration, washed with cold MeOH/H2O (5 mL, 1:1), and purified by silica gel chromatography (0-2% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give 13 mg of the title compound. MS: (+) m/z 460.36 (M+1).
