A mixture of 7-(2,4-dimethoxy-benzyl)-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (15 mg, 0.041 mmol) and 2-methoxyethylamine (0.012 mL, 0.14 mmol) in EtOH (2 mL) was refluxed for 16 h. After cooling the mixture to r.t., AcOH (0.1 mL) and water (2 mL) were added. The resulting precipitate was isolated by filtration, washed with cold MeOH/H2O (5 mL, 1:1), and dried under vacuum to give 9 mg of the title compound. MS: (+) m/z 414.36 (M+1).
