5.7 g of 2-butyryl-5-(2-ethylthiopropyl)-cyclohexane-1,3-dione was dissolved in 20 ml of ethanol, 1.4 g of ethoxyamine was added thereto, and the resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. After pouring the reaction solution into ice-cold water and acidifing the mixture with hydrochloric acid, the mixture was extracted with chloroform. The chloroform solution was washed with water, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the removal of chloroform by distillation under reduced pressure gave 4.5 g of the desired product as colorless oily material. nD27.5 1.5229
