Reaction Steps
A mixture of 5-bromo-8-nitroisoquinoline (0.99 g, 3.91 mmol) and dimethylsulfate (0.41 mL) in anhydrous DMF (20 mL) was heated at 80° C. for 24 hours. After removing the DMF in vacuo, the isoquinoiine methylammonium salt was obtained (used without further purification).
