Procedure
100 g (506.9 mmol) of dibenzylamine (dissolved in 300 ml of dichloromethane) is instilled in a well-stirred suspension of 234.51 g (2.53 mol) of epichlorohydrin and 200 ml of 32% sodium hydroxide solution at 0° C. It is stirred for 2 hours at 0° C., then for 3 hours at room temperature. It is diluted with 3 1 of water and extracted 3 times with 500 ml of dichloromethane. The organic phases are combined, dried on magnesium sulfate and concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum. The remaining oil is "flash"-Chromatographed on silica gel (mobile solvent: dichloromethane/hexane/acetone: 20/10/3).
