2.6 g (0.015 mol) of 2-amino-4-chloro-6-isopropyl-1,3,5-triazine and 4.2 g (0.03 mol) of K2CO3 are introduced into 50 ml of acetonitrile. 3.8 g (0.015 mol) of 1-methylbenzimidazole hydrobromide are added to this solution, and the mixture is subsequently refluxed for 3 hours. Then, all solid constituents are filtered off with suction and the filtrate is evaporated on a rotary evaporator. The residue is purified by means of column chromatography (eluent: ethyl acetate). This gives 4.1 g (88% of theory) of 2-amino-4-isopropyl-6-[1-(1-methylbenzimidazol-2-yl)-1-ethylamino]-1,3,5-triazine.
