4 M aqueous NaOH solution (0.20 mL) is added to a solution of {(S)-6-[(R)-4-morpholin-4-ylmethyl-5-trifluoromethyl-indan-1-yloxy]-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran-3-yl}-acetic acid methyl ester (91 mg) in methanol (1 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (1 mL) at room temperature. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 3 h. The organic solvent is evaporated, water is added to the residue, and the resulting solution is neutralized with 1 M aqueous HCl solution. The solution is stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The precipitate formed is separated by filtration, washed with water, and dried to give the title compound (if the title compound does not precipitate, the solution is concentrated, and the residue is purified by HPLC on reversed phase using acetonitrile and water as eluent). LC (method 1): tR=0.94 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=478 [M+H]+.
