Procedure
HCl in 1,4-dioxane (4M, 2 mL, 8.00 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of tert-butyl ((1S,2R)-1-(5-(tert-butyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-2-methyl-3-(methylamino)-3-oxopropyl)carbamate (50 mg, 0.13 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (1 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours before concentrating in vacuo. The residue was sonicated in diethyl ether (0.5 mL) for 30 minutes, the organic solvent was decanted and the fine precipitate dried under high vacuum to afford the title compound as the hydrochloride salt as a white solid (43.4 mg, quant).
