Procedure
3.0 g (14.4 mmol) of 2-amino-3-(4-boronophenyl)propionic acid were dissolved in 120 ml 0.4 N NaOH solution and diluted with 120 ml 1,4-dioxane. 2.05 ml benzyl chloroformate (14.4 mmol) in 15 ml 1,4-dioxane were added slowly at −15° C. The reaction mixture was allowed to come to room temperature over night and the organic solvent was removed under reduced pressure. After extracting the acidified remaining aqueous phase with ethyl acetate and drying this organic phase over Na2SO4 the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The crude product was recrystallized from acetonitrile.
