Procedure
(±)-2-Adamantyl 3-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-2,3-dihydrospiro[indene-1,4′-piperidine]-1′-carboxylate (33 mg, 0.075 mmol) was added to a solution of methylamine in alcohol (2 mL) at 0° C. The above mixture was heated under reflux overnight. LC-MS showed that the starting material was consumed completely. The mixture was evaporated to give a residue, which was purified by preparative HPLC to obtain (±)-2-adamantyl 3-(2-(methylamino)-2-oxoethyl)-2,3-dihydrospiro[indene-1,4′-piperidine]-1′-carboxylate (12 mg, 37%). 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD): 8=-1.52-1.67 (m, 6H), 1.84 (m, 6H), 1.93 (m, 2H), 2.07 (M, 5H), 2.28 (m, 1H), 2.56 (m, 1H), 2.77 (m, 4H), 3.12 (br, 2H), 3.62 (m, 1H), 4.19 (br, 2H), 7.18 (m, 4H).
