Procedure

Ethyl 2-[bis(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]-4-propanoyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylate obtained in Example (62f) (270.5 mg, 0.63 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (2 mL). A 4 N hydrochloric acid/ethyl acetate solution (6 mL) was added, and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 50 minutes. The reaction solution was washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The same operation as in Example (22c) was performed using the resulting crude product, copper chloride (96 mg, 0.71 mmol) and tert-butyl nitrite (86 μL, 0.72 mmol), to obtain 49.0 mg of the title compound as a colorless oily substance (31%).
