Ethanol (14.8 ml), concentrated hydrochloric acid (as 12 mol/L) (219 μl, 1.05 eq.) and water (6 μl) were added to N-{4-[2-amino-5-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)pyridin-3-yl]phenyl}-5-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-oxo-1-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxamide (1.50 g, 2.43 mmol) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at 40° C. for about 11 hours and then at room temperature for one hour, and the precipitated solid was collected by filtration. The solid was then dried under reduced pressure at room temperature for three hours to give the title compound (1.54 g). Yield: 97%.
