Procedure
To the solution of compound 2d (100 mg, 0.17 mmol) in H2O (2 mL) and MeOH (10 mL) was added aqueous NaOH (33 mg, 0.84 mmol). The resulting mixture was heated to reflux for 2 hr. Then the mixture was cooled to rt and acidified to pH=3 with 3.5N aqueous HCl, concentrated in vacuo to remove the volatile solvent. The resulting mixture was extracted with EA (2×30 mL). The organic extracts were combined and dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, concentrated in vacuo to give compound 2e as a white solid (80 mg, 80% yield).
