A solution of tert-butyl 4-(4-chloropyridin-2-yl)-4-fluoropiperidine-1-carboxylate (C4) (0.280 g, 0.890 mmol) in ethyl acetate (10 mL) was saturated with HCl(g). After 1 h, the reaction was concentrated in vacuo to provide 4-chloro-2-(4-fluoropiperidin-4-yl)pyridine dihydrochloride (C5) that gave a mass ion (ES+) of 215.2 for M+H+.
