Reaction Steps
Using general procedure A, cyclohexanepropanal (Stratakis, Manolis et al., Journal of Organic Chemistry (2002), 67(25), 8758-8763) was reacted with 3(E)-methoxy-acrylic acid methyl ester to give rac-5-(2-cyclohexyl-ethyl)-4-methoxy-5H-furan-2-one as a colorless solid. MS: 225.2 ([M+H]+).
