Procedure

A solution of 4-(thiazol-2-ylsulfamoyl)-benzimidic acid ethyl ester (0.965 mmol) and hydrazine (0.5 mL) was stirred for 10 min. in ethanol (5 mL) at room temperature. The solution was concentrated in vacuo and DMF (5 mL) was added followed by the addition of 3,4-dichloro-benzaldehyde (1.06 mmol). Acetic acid (1 mL) was added and the solution was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. The solution was quenched with sat NaHCO3, extracted with ethyl acetate, washed with brine and dried with MgSO4. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo and that material was purification by column chromatography to yield 4-(thiazol-2-ylsulfamoyl)-N-(3,4-Dichloro-benzylideneamino)-benzamidine (0.39 mmol).
