Procedure

To a solution of the first eluting compound from Part B above, tentatively assigned as (3aR,9bS)-tert-butyl 4-oxo-6-(trifluoromethyl)-3,3a,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]quinoline-2(9bH)-carboxylate (50 mg, 0.14 mmol) in 4 mL of ether was added 1 mL of 12 N HCl. The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 15 min and then was concentrated and dried in vacuo to a solid. This solid was triturated twice with ether and dried in vacuo to afford 30 mg (75%) of the title compound of Example 7 as a white solid. 1H NMR (DMSO-D6): δ 9.73 (s, 1H), 9.65 (broad s, 1H), 9.53 (broad s, 1H), 7.62 (d, 1H), 7.50 (d, 1H), 7.25 (t, 1H), 3.95-3.88 (m, 1H), 3.55-3.42 (overlapping m, 2H), 3.32-3.22 (overlapping m, 2H), 3.10-3.00 (m, 1H). LRMS (ESI): 257.2 (M+H)+.
