Stir 2-((2S)-2-dibenzylamino-1-hydroxy-3-phenylpropyl)-6-ethylpiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester-Isomer 2 (0.7 g, 1.23 mmol) and 20% palladium hydroxide (0.2 g, 50% wet) in methanol (10 mL) under a balloon of hydrogen gas at room temperature for 2 days. Filter the suspension through a pad of filtering agent, wash with methanol and concentrate to give the title compound (0.4 g, 95%).
