Procedure
1N Aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (3 mL) was added dropwise to the above-obtained (3S)-4-[1-(6-methoxy-3-pyridyl)-5-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole-3-carbonyl]morpholine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (387 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) with ice cooling, followed by stirring at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was partitioned between 1N aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid (3.5 mL) and chloroform. Subsequently, the organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate anhydrate. The mixture was subjected to filtration, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure, to thereby give (3S)-4-[1-(6-methoxy-3-pyridyl)-5-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole-3-carbonyl]morpholine-3-carboxylic acid as an amorphous product (338 mg, 90%).
