Procedure

Method A ##STR90## 2-Imino-3-(2'-chloro-2'-phenylethyl)thiazolidine hydrochloride (27.7 g) was heated for 1 hour on a steam-bath with 200 ml of 2N sodium carbonate solution. During this time an oil formed. On cooling this solidified. It was separated and recrystallised from 20% aq. ethanol to yield the desired compound. The hydrochloride was obtained by dissolving the base in ethanol and saturating the solution with dry HCl.
