Procedure
10% Aqueous sodium hydroxide (8 ml.) was added to a suspension of 5.4 g. (20 mmol.) of 7-aminocephalosporanic acid and 5.5 g. (27 mmol.) of 3-carboxymethyl-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol disodium salt, prepared by addition of a sodium hydroxide solution to a solution of 3-carboxymethyl-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol in aqueous ethanol.
