Procedure
A mixture of 3.8 g of 1[-4-(trans-4-propylcyclohexyl)phenyl]-2-trimethylsilylacetylene, 0.4 g of potassium carbonate and 50 ml of methanol/ether (2:1) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr. Then, the mixture was partitioned between water and ether and the organic phase was washed in succession with saturated sodium chloride solution and water, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered over Celite and evaporated. After chromatography of the residue over 150 silica gel with cyclohexane 1.95 g of 4-(trans-4-propylcyclohexyl)phenylacetylene were obtained as a colourless solid.
