Reaction Steps
To a stirred solution of 523 mg. (0.001 mole) of 6-(2-[p-nitrophenoxycarbonyl]-2-phenylacetamido)-2,2-dimethyl-3-(5-tetrazolyl)penam and 101 mg of triethylamine in 50 ml. of chloroform is added 1 ml of a 1 M solution of ammonia in methanol, at -30° C. Stirring is continued for 4 hours without external cooling and then evaporation in vacuo leaves the crude product as its triethylamine salt.
