Next, 6.17 g, that is, 17 mmol methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-acetylglucopyranuronosyl azide was added to 50 ml of dry tetrahydrofuran containing 400 mg of PtO2. The mixture was shaken under 40 psi of hydrogen for 2 hours, filtered, concentrated to dryness, to produce methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-acetylglucopyranuronosyl amine. ##STR8##
