Acetic anhydride (0.51 mL, 5.4 mmol) and triethylamine (0.75 mL, 5.4 mmol) were added to a solution of 3,5-dimethyl-4-iodopyrazole (1 g, 4.5 mmol) in CH2Cl2. After 1 h the reaction mixture was partitioned between 1N HCl and EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with 1N HCl, saturated NaHCO3, brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated to give the title compound as a white solid (1 g, 85%). 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 2.27 (s, 3H), 2.60 (s, 3H), 2.66 (s, 3H).
