The title compound was prepared from 3-ethoxymethacrolein and 3-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole as previously described by M. Kunstlinger and E. Breitmaier in Synthesis, 1983, 44-47. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) d 2.31 (s, 1H) 8.45 (s, 1H) 8.68 (s, 1H). MS (APCI) calcd for C6H6N4S: 166.21; found (M+H+) 167.0.
