A solution of 6-(2-Amino-ethyl)-6-cyclopentyl-dihydro-pyran-2,4-dione (90 mg, 0.4 mmol) from Step 5 below, TEA (0.22 mL, 1.6 mmol), 3-furan-2-yl-propionic acid (67 mg, 0.48 mmol) and HATU (182 mg, 0.48 mmol) in DMF (2 mL) was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was purified directly by preparatory HPLC to yield the desired product (26 mg, 19% yield). 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ: 1.27-3.47 (m, 21H), 6.94 (s, 1H), 6.19 (s, 1H), 7.22 (s, 1H). MS (ESI): 346 (M−H).
