Procedure
3,3-Dimethyl-dihydro-furan-2,5-dione (7.8 mmol, 1.0 g), 5-chloro-2-methylindole (13.8 mmol, 2.28 g), and AlC3 (9.0 mmol, 1.2 g) were stirred in 100 mL DCE overnight at 65° C. The reaction was cooled and quenched with 10 mL water. The resultant precipitate was filtered and washed with a small amount of DCE giving 1.06 g of the sub-titled compound.
