To a solution of methyl 3-hydroxy-4-oxo-4,5-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]quinoxaline-2-carboxylate (525 mg, 2.02 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) under inert atmosphere was added iodomethane (1.0 g, 7.0 mmol) and cesium carbonate (1.6 g, 5.0 mmol). The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 18 hours. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was suspended in EtOAc. The solids were removed by filtration. The filtrate solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give the product as an oil. ES MS (M+1)=288.
