To a solution of 1-(5-bromopyridin-2-yl)-1-(2,6-difluorophenyl)but-3-yn-2-one (2 g) in TMEDA was heated to 90° C. for 1 h. LCMS analysis revealed the reaction was complete and the reaction was concentrated. The crude material was purified by silica gel chromatography (CH2Cl2/acetone) to yield the title compound.
