Reaction Steps
A mixture of 5-hex-1-ynyl-6-nitroindan-1-one (8.2 g, 31.8 mmol), NH4Cl (0.84 g) and Fe (8.88 g, 0.159 mol) in ethanol (97 ml) and water (32 ml) is heated at reflux for 45 minutes.
