Procedure
83 mg of (2R,4R)-1-t-butoxycarbonyl-2-[2-{2-[2-(3,4-difluorophenyl)ethyl]-4-fluorophenoxy}ethyl]-4-hydroxypyrrolidine [prepared as described in Example 7(b)] were dissolved in 2 ml of dioxane, and then 2 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane were added to the resulting solution. The resulting mixture was then allowed to stand at room temperature for 1 hour. At the end of this time, the crystals which precipitated were collected by filtration, and dried in vacuo, to give 55 mg (yield 77%) of the title compound as colorless crystals, melting at 170°-171° C.
