Procedure

Beginning with 3.0 gm (20.0 mMol) 5-chloro-1H-indole and 6.0 gm (40.0 mMol) 4-piperidone hydrochloride monohydrate, 1.45 gm (31%) of the title compound were recovered as a yellow solid.
