To a solution of 4-[2-(5-bromo-pyridin-2-yloxy)-acetylamino]-thiophene-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (100 mg, 0.269 mmol), 2-chlorophenylboronic acid (50.5 mg) and cesium carbonate (350 mg) in THF (10.5 mL) and degassed water (2.5 mL) was added tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (8.4 mg) and the reaction mixture was stirred under argon for 2 hours at 80° C. After such time water was added and the precipitate was isolated, washed with water and dried in vacuo to yield 4-{2-[5-(2-chloro-phenyl)-pyridin-2-yloxy]-acetylamino}-thiophene-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester.
