Reaction Steps

2.7 g of ethyl 2-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(3-thienyl)-4-oxazolyl]acetate are dissolved in 10 ml of 10% potassium hydroxide/methanol, and the solution is stirred at room temperature for 17 hours. After the reactioh, the crystalline precipitates are collected by filtration, and then washed with cold ethanol and ether. 2.4 g of potassium 2-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(3-thienyl)-4-oxazolyl]acetate are thereby obtained.
