Procedure

A mixture of N-benzyl-N'-methanesulphonylpiperazine (12.4 g), cyclohexane (5.1 ml), 10% Pd/C (2 g) and methanol (120 ml) was heated under reflux for 7 hours to give 1-methanesulphonylpiperazine (m.p. 90°-91° C.).
